Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR)

I began my career as a scientist, focusing mainly on laser physics, quantum optics, and the engineering of fibre optic systems for transoceanic telecommunications.
Over time, I developed a fascination for the intractable part of human connection: conflict. From there came my passion for helping others achieve harmony.
Using a variety of tools for Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) and other methods of de-escalation and resolution, I help my clients restore harmony with lower emotional and financial costs than the adversarial process of litigation. These strategies can also be used to facilitate healthier conflict dynamics between parties moving forward.
My penchant for psychology spun me into specializing in high-conflict personalities (HCPs) and their impact on conflict dynamics. Unrestrained, HCPs (such as persons with narcissistic or borderline personality disorder) often deploy patterns of gaslighting, passive-aggression, hyper-reactivity, and/or manipulation, to name a few. Managing HCPs is key for successful ADR outcomes.
I am dedicated to fair, respectful dispute resolution and victim’s rights. Although I am not a lawyer, I may assist clients in exploring options for arbitration or litigation, including referring to or acting as a liaison to specialized attorneys when appropriate. I’ve studied international law, tort law, civil law procedure, and human rights at the graduate level. I’ve aided clients in disputes pertaining to employment negotiation, workplace discrimination and retaliation, as well as malpractice, personal injury, and probate law matters.
High Conflict Personalities and Legal Disputes

Online-Specific Background

I earned my mediation certification in part by demonstrating a mastery of the basic mediation skills as well as those particular to the video-conferencing environment.
My graduate-level research comparing face-to-face and virtual interactions identified common pitfalls with digital communications that often result in conflict escalation instead of de-escalation or resolution. I bring these insights into my practice.
